NewsOpportunity Bank first in the region to join the movement of banks with values (GABV)
Traditional banking is about to face big but necessary changes. One of the potential new and more sustainable banking models is a bank that gives equal importance to the positive impact on the communities where it works, including the people who live in those communities as well as our environment, and to the realization of profit as a legitimate goal of every profit organization.
Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) is organized as an independent network of banks, savings and credit unions from all over the world including Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America and Europe. Opportunity bank has recently joined this network that consist of 46 member-banks who jointly have over 41 million clients accross the world. Members of GABV share the joint mission of achieving sustainable economic, social and environmental development, and are focused on providing financial support to individuals that often come from marginalized communities, with the aim to help them achieve their potential thus empowering the communities where they work and live.
With 70% loan clients from rural areas of Serbia, Opportunity Bank is committed to financial inclusion as it enables access to basic financial services, primarily loans, to micro and small entrepreneurs, farmers and clients with incomes lower than average who are not in the focus of traditional banking institutions. Opportunity Bank has recognized GABV as a likeminded partner with whom it can share best practices and knowledge, with goal to open the banking system to all clients, regardless of their economic power, while trying to leave our planet to the future generations in at least the same state as we found it.
